What We Believe

Craighalbert Church is an Evangelical Christian Church which holds the following fundamental beliefs:

  1. That there is only one Holy Triune God made up of the three persons of the Holy trinity – God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
  2. We believe in the teachings of the Holy Bible as absolute fact and as the living Word of God, which is as relevant to our lives today as it was when it was written thousands of years ago.
  3. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that he came from Heaven to give himself as a sacrifice so that we may be saved from our sinful lives and have the opportunity to live in eternal life with God when we die. We believe Christ died on the Cross to accomplish this and that he rose from the dead and sits at the right hand of His Father God in Heaven.
  4. We believe that in the future Christ will return in Glory. Unlike his first coming, when he came as a servant to us, a teacher and ultimately as a sacrifice for us, in His second coming He will come as a judge. Those who have confessed their sins, have repented of them and have turned to Christ as their Saviour and Lord and demonstrated this in Christian living will be saved at the time of judgement and will be taken up into Heaven. Those who have not accepted Christ in this way will face an eternity separated from God in Hell.
  5. We believe that those who have accepted Christ should demonstrate the inner change this brings by being baptised by immersion in water. This symbolises a cleansing were the old life is left behind and a new way of Christian life, a re-birth, begins as the Holy Spirit begins to work in the life of the new believer.
  6. We believe that all Christians should remember Christ’s sacrifice for us in taking the sacrament of the Lords Supper as he taught us to do. The bread and wine are only symbols of the body and blood of Christ but they are a solemn reminder of His sacrifice and His great love for us.
  7. We believe in the unity of God’s people. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ and this extends to our Church family as we minister and care in Christian love for everyone in our Church fellowship.
